Holton continues wrestling success, while other local area grapplers have standout performances
The Wildcats of Holton take another wrestling title this time winning the Wabaunsee Invitational this past weekend, which featured wrestlers from 19 different schools. Holton used its 12 fourth place or better performances to pace their way to the overall team victory in the tournament. The invitational featured a multitude of other squads from the area including Jefferson West, Royal Valley, Pleasant Ridge, Horton, and Immaculata.
Highlighting the Wildcats performance on the day were sophomore, Cooper Zeller taking first in the 285 pound weight class, while junior Hunter Price continued his standout season in which he has only lost once, with a first place finish in the 113 pound weight class. Holton had six wrestlers notch second place finishes in the Invitational, as well. Other top performers from the area: juniors Tanner Ogden and Tristen Matthews from Royal Valley took first place in their respective weight classes 145 and 182 pounds; Pleasant Ridge grapplers, sophomore Blake Graham and junior, Jared Johnson, took first in their weight classes, 120 and 152 pound, respectively; Justin Scott, sophomore, of Jefferson West notched a first place finish under his belt in the 220 pound weight class.
