A Falls City teen accused of leading authorities on a two-county chase in December will now be prosecuted as a juvenile.
Following a hearing this week, Richardson County District Judge Daniel Bryan granted a motion to move the case of 17 year old Nathan Purcell from district court to juvenile court.
Purcell is charged with felony counts of theft by unlawful taking or disposition involving a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and burglary.
Authorities say Purcell fled when a Nebraska State Patrolman attempted to stop his pickup on December 4th, which was allegedly stolen.
The pursuit went through Falls City, into Brown County, all the way to Hiawatha and then back to Richardson County. Purcell was apprehended after running the truck into a ditch and fleeing on foot.
In addition Purcell is suspected of a burglary at Cross Winds Restaurant and the Falls City Country Club.
Previously Purcell had entered a not guilty plea to the charges and a jury trial had been scheduled for March 7th.
