Local Volleyball Teams Punch State Tickets

Six Kanzaland area volleyball teams punched tickets to the upcoming State tournaments with Sub-State championships over the weekend. The State tournaments begin Friday morning and wrap up Saturday afternoon.
The Holton team had victories over Perry-Lecompton and Topeka-Hayden en route to a 25-12, 25-27, 25-23 over Wamego in the Sub-State finals. With a 39-3 record, Holton is the 3 Seed for the 4A State tournament in Salina.
In Class 3A, Nemaha Valley topped Sabetha in the Sabetha Sub-State title game 25-17, 25-20. The Lady Raiders beat Pleasant Ridge and ACCHS in previous rounds, and with a 23-16 record are the 7 Seed at State. Marysville swept Silver Lake 25-23, 29-27 to win their own Sub-State and are the 6 Seed for State.
The defending 2A State Champion, Oskaloosa has a chance to defend their title after breezing through the Doniphan West Sub-State by winning each match in two games. Washington County won every game at the Republic County Sub-State to claim the 1 Seed at State with a 35-5 record.
The storied Centralia volleyball program returns to state after winning every game at the Valley Heights Sub-State. The Lady Panthers are the 3 Seed for the 1A-Division I State tournament in Hays. In 1A-Division II, Baileyville B&B won the Frankfort Sub-State, beating Wetmore in the Finals 25-20, 25-16.
