Kanzaland Radio Honored
At The Kansas Association Of Broadcasters Annual Meeting

KNZA Radio of Hiawatha and KMZA Radio of Seneca received several awards at the annual Kansas Association of Broadcasters meeting on October 11th in Overland Park.

Awards for KNZA and KMZA included: 1st place in the Complete Sports Feature category for the Friday Night Fever program with Justin Fluke and Wade Gerstner.

3rd place in the In-Depth News Reporting in a Series went to L.J. Trant for his series Iraq Perspective with the 2nd Bat. 130th FA KS A. Nat. Guard.

Wade Gerstner received 2nd place in the Sports Play-by-Play category for his coverage of the Girls State Basketball Championship game Centralia vs Grinnell.

Wade also received 3rd place in the Humorous Commercial category with the Taylor Mobile.

KAIR Radio in Atchison was awarded station of the year. Station of the Year is an award that results from a cumulative total of points received from the various award categories. This year KAIR received first place awards in the categories of Public Service Announcements, Station Promotion Announcement, Complete News Feature, Single Topic Event News Coverage and Commentary. Second place awards were received for Public Affairs Program, Complete Sports Cast, Complete News Feature, Complete Sports Feature, Single Topic Event News Coverage, and In Depth News Reporting in a Series. Third place awards were received for Production-Intensive Commercial, and Complete Newscast.

KAIR General Manager, Greg Buser, said that it was KAIR's 4th consecutive year to win the Station of the Year award. "It's quite an accomplishment to win this award one time, and to receive it 4 years running is definitely an honor."

The KAIR on-air staff consists of Jason Drake, Brian Hagen, Rachel Lehcar, Patty Moore, Jared Martin, and George Weston. KAIR's advertising sales are handled locally by Jim Ervin and Margie McConnaughey.

KAIR Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day on the FM dial at 93.7, and on the AM dial at 1470. Their studio is located at 205 North 5th Street in Atchison, Kansas. They can be reached at 913-367-1470.
