Onaga @ St. Mary‘s
Girl‘s Varsity: Hannah McDowell (St. Mary‘s) 18 points
The St. Mary‘s Bears opened up the season in their St. Mary‘s tournament and they used their tenacious performance on the defensive end to stifle the Onaga Buffaloes offense, which lead to plenty of fast break opportunities for the Bears and easy baskets. Helping spark that defense and leading the team in points for the night was senior forward/guard, Hannah McDowell who scored 18 points helping the Bears start the season off 1-0.
Boy‘s Varsity: Riley Falk (Onaga) 18 points
It was a tight game back and forth between the boy‘s varsity squads of Onaga and St. Mary‘s, as the changed leads after the first three-quarters and then were tied after regulation and went into overtime. Plenty of plays were made throughout the contest by both squads and a multitude of players from each team. But the play of the game might have been senior center, Riley Falk winning the tip to start overtime and getting the ball to junior point guard, Mitchell Kufahl who found senior guard, Zak Marten open underneath the basket for a quick easy lay-up to start overtime and the Buffaloes didn‘t give up the lead from that point on. Falk, also lead the Buffaloes in scoring with 18 points on the night.
