United Bank & Trust "Player to Bank On" (Dec. 9th)

B&B @ Wetmore

Girl‘s Varsity: Nicole Boden (Wetmore) 23 points

In battle of KBCA ranked 1A-Division II squads (B&B ranked 7th and Wetmore 8th), it was the home team the Wetmore Cardinals that controlled things throughout the game. Wetmore increased their lead throughout the game incrementally ultimately taking the Falcons of B&B down by a 17 point margin, 51-34. The Cardinals 51 points where sparked a season high 23 from senior guard/forward, Nicole Boden who spread her scoring throughout the game but scored a majority of her points, 11, in the fourth quarter. The girl‘s varsity squad for Wetmore stayed undefeated on the season (3-0) with the win, while the B&B Falcons fell to 2-2 this season.

Boy‘s Varsity: Corey Holthaus (B&B) 11 points

The B&B Falcons boy‘s varsity squad came away with a double-digit win on the road against the Wetmore Cardinals but the score is not indicative of how the game went. It was a close game throughout, B&B looked to be in control with a nice earlier seven point lead after the first quarter, but Wetmore made a comeback to only be by two at the half and ultimately tie the game at the end of the third quarter. Behind clutch free throw shooting down the stretch and senior forward, Cody Heiman‘s 16 points the Falcons notched the 52-41, victory. But it was senior guard, Corey Holthaus‘ performance that helped the offense keep moving for the Falcons in the second half. Holthaus, who finished the game with 11 points, scored all 11 in the second half with a couple of big three-point baskets and other key baskets, which helped the B&B Falcons stay undefeated on the year (4-0). Wetmore fell to 0-3 on the season in the hard fought loss.
