The Bluejays of Sabetha improved to 4-0 on the season with a 47-40 victory on the road against the Raiders of Nemaha Valley, but it didn‘t come easy for the Bluejays. The game was a close contest throughout its entirety, with the biggest lead being 10 points in the second half for Sabetha. Nemaha Valley was able to tie the game multiple times in the second half but ultimately down the stretch the Bluejays hit their free throws (6-15 Free throws for the game). While a steady scoring load from senior guard, Meggie Hall who scored a team high 13 points for Sabetha, also helped pace the way for the Bluejays staying undefeated, while Nemaha Valley fell to 1-3 on the season.
Boy‘s Varsity: Trent Olberding (Nemaha Valley) 19 points
In a battle of undefeated squads it was the Raiders of Nemaha Valley that ran out to a quick early lead with a 17-4 first quarter over the Bluejays of Sabetha. The Raiders never looked back from that point as the kept the pressure on leading by 14 at the half (25-19) and extending their lead to as much as 20 points in the second half; ultimately win 58-40. Junior point guard, Trent Olberding, had a season high 19 points has he was facilitating offense all night for the Raiders, through his passing and scoring. The Raiders capitalized on Bluejay turnovers throughout the contest for fastbreak opportunities, but also played with a fast pace that let them dictate the game from the horn. Nemaha Valley improved to 4-0 with the win and Sabetha suffered its first loss of the season (3-1).
