Frankfort @ Centralia
Girl’s Varsity: Michelle Haug (Centralia) 15 points
It was a game that went down to the wire and was ultimately decided by one point with the Panthers of Centralia holding on to the 46-45 over the Wildcats of Frankfort. Frankfort lead at the end of the first quarter 15-9, but Centralia took over in the second quarter and didn’t look back leading at the half by one and stretching that to a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter. Though the Wildcats made sure they made a game of it, starching and clawing back to within one point with a chance to win on junior guard, Jessa Jones’ three-pointer at the buzzer which was fired up a little to late, giving the Panthers the win. Jones finished with 19 points in the loss for Frankfort, while Michelle Haug finished with 15 points to lead Centralia, as she spread her scoring throughout the game. Centralia improved to 4-2 with the win, while Frankfort fell to 5-2 with the loss.
Boy’s Varsity: Michael Glatzcak (Centralia) 15 points (3-3pter’s)
The boy’s game between these two Twin Valley League squads wasn’t as close as the girls’ game, as Centralia pounced on Frankfort from the start, leading by nine points after the first quarter (17-8). With that lead the Panthers never looked back cruising to a 47-35 victory. Frankfort struggled to find scoring outside of their post players, senior’s, Jonathan Keating and Jacob Broxterman who combined for 29 of Frankfort’s 35 points. While Centralia finished with six players with tallies in the scorer’s book and two players in double figures. Senior guard and star football player, Michael Glatzcak lead the way with 15 points and hitting some nice three-pointers on his way to those 15 points, while senior center, Hayden Cross chipped in 10 points, also for the Panthers. Centralia improved to 5-1 with the win and stayed undefeated in league play, also, while Frankfort fell to below .500 on the season at 3-4 with the loss.
