KDOT OFFERS TWITTER UPDATES

Good afternoon! The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) now offers three Twitter accounts (www.twitter.com ) to communicate traffic impacts on the highways (due to traffic incidents, road construction, etc.) and/or weather-related events. The three accounts cover the following geographic areas in northeast Kansas:
1) Greater Kansas City (KS) Metro Area (including Johnson, Leavenworth, and Wyandotte Counties)
2) Topeka/Lawrence Metro Area (including Douglas and Shawnee Counties)
3) All Remaining Northeast Kansas Counties (including: Atchison, Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, Jefferson, Lyon, Marshall, Nemaha, Osage, Pottawatomie, Riley, Wabaunsee; excluding the KC Metro and Topeka/Lawrence Metro areas)
These Twitter alert notifications, commonly known as “tweets” will be beneficial as we can provide alerts in real-time and this timely communication will help supplement other reporting venues that KDOT uses such as the 511 and KC Scout (in Kansas City metro area) alert systems
The three Northeast Kansas KDOT Twitter accounts are:
Kansas City Metro KDOT:
Topeka/Lawrence Metro KDOT:
